| BEST Plus, developed by the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL), is an individually administered face-to-face adaptive oral interview designed to assess the English language proficiency of adult English language learners. |
Because of issues on some laptops with the CD-ROM drive, we're implementing an alternate method, via software, to run the BEST Plus program that does not require the physical BEST Plus CD-ROM. This virtual CD-ROM drive will be configured as drive Z: to use an .iso image of the BEST Plus CD-ROM.
The laptops that were serviced by the IT support staff since September 2007 have been configured to use the virtual CD-ROM drive and an .iso image of the BEST Plus CD-ROM.

Message: Please insert a disk into drive Z:
If you attempt to run BEST Plus and you see a "Please insert a disk into drive Z:" message:
- Click the OK button to cancel the "Please insert a disk into drive Z:" message
- On the Desktop of the computer, double-click on the "Mount BEST Plus CD Image" icon.
- When the Window with the black background opens, press the space bar.
- The window will then close by itself.
- Run "BEST Plus Menu" again
