BEST Plus

Because of issues on some laptops with the CD-ROM drive, we're implementing an alternate method, via software, to run the BEST Plus program that does not require the physical BEST Plus CD-ROM. This virtual CD-ROM drive will be configured as drive Z: to use an .iso image of the BEST Plus CD-ROM.

Many of the laptops that were serviced by the IT staff in September 2007 have been configured to use the virtual CD-ROM drive and an .iso image of the BEST Plus CD-ROM.

Common Problems and Solutions

Please insert a disk into drive Z:

If you attempt to run BEST Plus and Windows displays a "Please insert a disk into drive Z:" message

1. Download the "Mount BEST Plus CD Image" script.
   (Right click, then select "Save Link as..." or "Save Target as...")
2. Copy it to the desktop of the BEST Plus user
3. Run the "Mount BEST Plus CD Image" script from the desktop by double-clicking on it
4. Run BEST Plus as usual

If you have "Mount Best Plus CD Image" and "UnMount Best Plus CD Image" on your desktop, go to Shortcut, else

Unmounting an image:

1. Right-click on the DAEMON Tools trayicon
2. Select Virtual CD/DVD-ROM
3. Select Device [?:]
4. Click Unmount

Mounting an image:

1. Right-click on the DAEMON Tools trayicon
2. Select Virtual CD/DVD-ROM
3. Select Device [?:]
4. Click Mount
5. Browse and select the image file you wish to mount,
   e.g. BestPlus-CD-Feb-2005a.iso in the C:\BEST Plus.iso\ directory.
6. Click OK or double-click on the file to mount

Shortcut to Mounting an image:

1. Double-click UnMount Best Plus CD Image
2. Double-click Mount Best Plus CD Image
3. Double-click BEST Plus Menu
